JaNene's Wish

I have just gotten back a bit ago from a run to the store. It wasn't my typical menu planned, list written trip to the store. It was all non-perishables to make sure we have enough during the storm. We are expecting a pretty bad hit from Fay.

It has been the storm that thinks it can, thinks it can, thinks it can. When I got to work today, that seemed to be the major topic of conversation.

One of my co-workers, JaNene, really wanted us to close. I thought for sure that we wouldn't. Maybe she'd get her wish on Thursday but certainly not tomorrow.

Well, I was wrong. They closed city office Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is a wait and see day. Every couple of minutes she mentioned closing and her wish. But she always seemed to amend it with a "but not for anyone to get hurt.". She is a very sweet person but a pistol. She is very funny and giving too. All the children that come through the doors of the library are her kids.

Everytime I turn around she is telling another person about Dad and his writing. She has three of his books and they are really treasured possessions. I wouldn't be surprised if she went into work just to get them so they would be safe from the storm.

I feel mostly prepared but a little fearful too. LOL Much like my wedding : D

I picked up something for P's birthday while at the store. Fear and preparing aside, life goes on. It is plastic and buggy and I hope she will like it. I have also been collecting things for B's birthday. September 13th. He'll be 35 the same as D's age. He wants turkey and stuffing and my homemade cookies : ) We had talked about doing more than that. But he wants to keep it low key. I really like giving him stuff. Just recently I worked on addding to his graphic novel collection. He has been reading a series called Exiles. But because he doesn't have any ones in a particular order, it makes it difficult to remember which ones he has. I have bought one the other day for a birthday present but he already had that one. So back into the Chamblin's pile it goes.

Speaking of Chamblin, B and I visited their new location downtown. It was super cooliness. We went on a Sunday and it was so quiet. Normally I have to fight through several people in varying sections. But here, I saw maybe four or five people in the whole place. It was awesome. We should have those last couple of bookshelf shelves filled in in no time.

Good day and stay dry.

Gomez

I know it is like 2 and 1/2 half away but I already know who I am going to be for Halloween. And what I'll be doing for Halloween.

I'm going to be Mortica Addams and we'll be having a Halloween House warming party. The Mortica ties in quite nicely with my current nickname for B. He kisses my hand and keeps going up. So of course I called him Gomez. I love the Addams cartoons.

If you can't tell, the view is of a grave yard. They are just so darkly funny.

I've always liked Halloween. My favorite costume (well, wittiest) was the year I dressed up with a Santa hat, red shirt, white skirt and white fur collar. I had everyone guess first and they would all guess Mrs. Claus. I wasn't. I was Christmas.... Eve : D LOL

B and I were talking about showing scary movies that night. I think it would be a good idea to show all the ones related to house. Tie it back into the housewarming part and I've got a castle cake form so I can make a scary house cake. It should be fun. You might have an inkling that I am a wee bit excited about it. : )

Good day and boo!

Again with the 7:00

It's like weirdly morphing into a person who actually gets up in the morning. I am trying to get used to it. I'd actually like to make it a habit again with the exercising.

So right now there is a cat on either side of the door I almost closed to keep the noise down. One wanting to get in and the other out. But they both keep batting at the door and usually at the same time. Crazy kitties.

Last night was interesting. I met up with the dean and alums from FSU College of IS. It was very cool to meet everyone. But it was more like networking meeting. But it was pretty much what I expected. We ate at a restaurant at the new mall. It was my first experience there and I wasn't thrilled. It was like a main street section and a mall. Okay so it was my first time seeing valet parking at a mall. What uber craziness is this?

Good day and me-ow!

How to go from swamped to sane

I am responsible for processing the magazines at my branch. I will usually go through to pull out any of the subscription cards and the freebie things. My title is one of the headlines on the O magazine.

That's me... swamped not sane. At least for right this moment. I think it is mainly a work slippage. I have been so busy this summer. We just finished our summer reading program and it rocked. The kids kept track of their minutes read and they read over 25000 minutes this summer. Even though B and I took a break around July, I think we need another. It is just so difficult with such a small staff to find a day that works. Right now August 27th is the only day in the two weeks with nothing on it.

I took a mentoring course yesterday. I am excited and just a wee bit nervous. But I think it will end of being a good experience. This blog reminds me that I can be asleep and still talking. LOl Something B has pointed out about me. It is wicked early for me (7:00 am). I just woke up. No alarm or anything.

I feel like the meanest nicest person. I can't tell if it's hormones or staff or the people we deal with. I just don't feel like me. It'll pass but it doesn't mean I have to like it while it is going on. I just have high expectations and expect a lot of myself.

Right now, I expect I should get up and get ready for work. Oh golly goodness, I do need a break. It has just been a busy couple of months. With a lot of changes. I think I'll take the 27th : )

Good day and gimme a break!

Running Low

This week, on a Friday afternoon, I feel tired.

Now normally, I am looking forward to a weekend off from work. But today I am just tired. I still have about 1 1/2 hours of work yet so no napping just yet.

I hope to have a bit more energy tomorrow. I am taking B to a Cowart family tradition. We are hoping to go to lunch at Blueboys. It is this great sandwich shop which we have had all sorts of get-togethers in. I have pics of us all in front of it for my college graduation celebration wearing gnome hats.

We look like a really dysfunctional dwarf family.

We had a great trip to the Kennedy Space Center over the 4th of July weekend. I've got pics to post but they are on the computer at home. We also went to the Brevard Art Museum to see the Postsecret exhibit. Supremely cool. I wish I could have gotten pics but they didn't allow photography. I loved that you could see front and back. There were several I never saw on the site and several fronts that were decorated or have more messages.

I now have a shiny new gold tooth. Anyday now I will be getting my doctorate from Muppets U and getting an invite to join the band. I could be their new lead singer. Like for sure, man. I mean I even have the blonde hair like Janice.

Good day and keep moving right along.

My first June Post

I am almost done with changes. I'd like to sit still for a while. We are all moved in at our new place and everything is on its way to being put into place.

So much has happended in what feels like a small space of time. New cars, new marriage, new house, new kitty... and possibily a new job for B. He has been filling out paper work for a new position here in town. He hasn't gotten the offical word yet but since they are having him fill out paperwork, it seems promising. He is really excited because this will put him onto the right career path for what he eventually wants to do. I love that he is excited. I get the feeling that that hasn't always been the case for him jobwise.

I am trying to stand still today. I know that I can get so caught up in everything. It is almost like forgetting to breathe. I always feel like that there is something I need to be doing. Always moving forward.

J came by the other day and helped me unpack and do some decorating. She did such a great job and has an awesome eye. I really think she should go into interior design and P into counseling.

So good day as I sit.

A Monkey Wrench

So one thing may be a concern before the move. The where... B received an email that he was on the shortlist for a position in D.C. : ) Someone else has realized just how smart and what a valuable employee he is.

But the timing is a bit of a throw off. We have already put in our notice for here. And have not yet signed the lease on the one we are interested in. Maybe for a good reason....

We're going ahead with the move here as a lot could have with the DC job. I'll be happy anywhere as long as I am with him.

Good night and many prayers.

The pre-move mode

So we've decided. LOL We seem to be doing that a lot recently. I never knew marriage would be filled with so many .... decisions. This next one is to move.

Not very far though. Still in town (unless B's job decides otherwise) but the house we have now is older and with older, we have old wiring and old plumbing. We have probably spent a half a month's rent on just lightbulbs and draino.

So this weekend will consist of looking at possible places. And maybe packing a little too. Or at least going through stuff we should get rid of.

I did a storytime for 360 people today. Okay so it was four storytimes for 90 people but still my biggest group yet. I love doing storytelling. I like using my whole body to play out a character or series of characters. I still use a book because it is comfortable and I am not yet sure enough to believe that I alone could hold their attention. Most of the kids seemed to enjoy it and the teachers told me what a good job I did.

I just love words. I love cool words. The ones that stump the kids. I told one boy that he was erudite. And gregarious. He seemed shocked that I, an adult, would call him insulting names. I just love the sound of words.

I like being funny. It is a sound that everyone understands... a laugh.

So that's being my week starting with something not so funny (dental) and ending on something funny (storytime). I wonder what next week will bring.

Good day and LOL!

Back but not talking

I have had to take more drugs in the last two days than I think I ever have.

It was all due to my dental surgery. Which went well according to my dentist. I had a somewhat different perspective. They had given me valium to take the night before and the day of. I was supposed to be asleep for the whole procedure. No such luck. They couldn't get the IV in. My hand looks like a pin cushion. They said my veins kept running. Hey if you were being poked, you'd run too.

But they removed one wisdom tooth and did two crown lengthenings. I think I like my original dentist even more. Normally my guy makes sure I am really comfortable since I am always so nervous. So all that is left is the crowns.

After all this I deserve a crown. Queen Eve.

Thus good night and long live the Queen.

Clunker

That's me. Okay so I thought that my dental woes would soon be over. First, they were going to do a crown. Then they needed to do a crown lengthening.

Now there is a wisdom tooth that needs to be removed so that they can get to the tooth to do the lengthening. It was like I was the old clunker you take in for one thing and everytime they try to fix one thing, there is another to be fixed.

After all this I may need the valium they are going to give me for the surgery : P

Good day and please dear Lord don't forget to floss.

Nerves, nerves and more nerves

Someone mentioned to me today how surprised they were that April was almost over. To me, it can't get to the end soon enough. This has been a roller coaster month. So many highs and lows that I need a day off.

I took today but it was more for my dental work stuff. He got the old filling out and then realized I didn't have enough teeth left to attach the crown to so thus I got a referral for an oral surgeon. He will do two crown lengthenings and then I get my two crowns. After that it is mainly care and maintenence. It will be such a relief. I was very nervous today. Especially after they said they were doing it without any numbing. Eeek was my first thought.

One of our highs was Simba. Our new almost 3 month old kitty.

She was very skittish when she first came out of the carrier. But as you can tell she has really relaxed.

B has also had a lot on his plate. He helped create a training for his office and has also been dealing with supervisors switching. It just drains him. He has such strength. He spends all day listening to people who are sick and trying to get them help. I am amazed. He is very cute and very enamoured over Simba. He has just put in for two positions. One is here and the other in Washington. As we walked at Mrs. White's yesterday, we discussed our plans for retirement. Grant you it is like 30 years to plan but I like to have discussions now : P I am just so excited to have him.

Good day and have a silly day.

In contrast

I just finished reading H's blog. Hers was a lovely day.

Mine was not so lovely. And lovely at the same time. I got very frustrated with B. today. Nothing seemed to go like I planned. I planned to get Bill Cosby tickets and they closed the site just as I was trying to decide my seat. I got frustrated with B because he said Let's go to St. Augustine and so I looked into going here and there. In the end, he then said he wasn't feeling well and told me I was too confusing.

The lovely part comes in here. Even though we confused each other and frustrated each other, we still talked and he told me in a nutshell that he would love me confusing and frustrating because that was still me and he loves me. I love him for that. Even though he is confusing and frustrating too.... : D

It is still so weird to have this other person to consider. I am just so used to just doing what I want to do whenever I want to do it. But I wouldn't have it any other way : P

Bonne nuit and sleep well.

I could a drinking a case of you.

I have felt myself consumed this day. And not in a good way. Simple courtesy and good parenting are rare examples that I see every once in a while.

I have seen too many times where a parent gets on the computer and totally ignores the children she brought in with her. Or tells them to shut up. I can think very hard and I don't recall a time where my parents told me to shut up. Then there was an example of a person trying to help another person and about getting their head bitten off. I know that it appeared that the person being helped was just on their last limbs and it just so happened that this was a last straw happening.

I know that it reminds me of when I read Postsecret I want to cry and laugh and get angry all at the same time. I couldn't let this feeling go. Even when I went home for lunch. I usually can and it helps me get through the day.

I just want to hug the world. All I can do is have faith and pray. I feel like I was a full cup and today was my last drop to hold. I wish I could give everyone my glasses. For you all to see what wonderous beautiful people you all are. I am constantly amazed at you all. The smarts, the compassion, the joy, the kindness, the capacity for so much... in those that I talk to daily, think of, live with, am related to, am friends with...

Good night and look through my eyes.

You take me the way I am

So work was tough yesterday and good today. Today I got to go to MAX for a meeting. It meant getting to see all my good friends there. There is such a different attitude there. I think it is a mix of the staff and the patrons and how glad and appreciative they are. I really love them all.

Afterwards I got to another library to take some pics of staff who had won awards. I told K about J putting me in for an award on a particularly down day. Even if I don't win, I still appreciate someone seeing my efforts and recognizing them. I could win an award for my stubbornness. And it isn't sticking up for anything normal. It is weird stuff.

And then I came back to the branch to work on magazines. You would think it would be a boring job. But I actually like it. It is something I haven't done before. And those tasks are really few and far between for me. I usually know or pick it up really quickly. This took a bit to get used to.

I've got most of my thanks cards out now. I have to get an address or two for a couple more and I was going to call M plus a card since I have been a horrible best friend. I haven't called her in so long.

So only 10 and a half hours of being in charge. Thank goodness. I am anxiously awaiting getting back to doing just children and teen stuff. Huzzah.

Good day and nobody expects the Spanish Inquistion...

Pleased as Punch

I am not sure where the phrase originated from but I saw an example this morning. D and H came by to show off their new rides. They both got motorcycles (okay so one was a scooter but still wicked cool). They both seem really just genuinely pleased. I really loved seeing them so happy.

I have been slow to recover from a bad cough and some back problems. I have a really hard time relaxing and not doing things around the house. But by not relaxing and taking it easy, I just make it harder on myself. It is just so hard to let go and kick back. It is hard learning to lean on anyone even my hubby. I am used to be the one that could be depended on. Not the other way around.

Okay, so I've been having fun. Filling out forms to change my name is fun. I have to list all the places I've lived since birth. I actually have to use another piece of paper to get them all listed. LOL I've never considered it before. It was super surprising. It is a little hard to think about being another name. My initials will be EMH. LOL When I first told B that he got excited. He was thrilled to have a wife with the initials for Emergency Medical Hologram off of Star Trek Voyager :P I love him but he is nuts :D

Good day and what is the nature of your medical emergency?

Evey's Believe it or Not...

It's not the life that doesn't let me blog. It is the work. For the week and a half, I have had to take on management duties on top of my normal childrens and teen work. It has stressed me out something fierce.

I don't truly want to manage. I love doing the childrens work. But I am good at it. Or at least I think I am. I used to have my staff do anonymous evals on me and they said I was good too. I am good at picking out where I am not good as well.

I have always been able to see where I need some more work. I am a masterpiece... but only sort of. I am a work done by Leonardo Da Vinci... but at age 4 : )

There is a scene in Hook where they are trying to figure out Robin Williams character. One little boy takes his face and then smooths it all out and says "Oh there you are, Peter." I feel a bit like that today. Under this management, stressed out, sick with a cold, is me, Eve.

Married life is good. The one downside current is no license. I need it to come in so I can begin the name change. Otherwise, life that way is good. B. is just great. He let me sleep until 11 pm last night when I came home early with the cold. It did me a world of good. Though I have been having odd dreams. Last night, I dreamed that I was in Paris helping a friend with his grandmother's recipe for chocolate puffs. And there was some sort of conference going on. It was cool to walk around Paris with B.

Good day and bonjour!

Changes and chances

Well, now I'm Mrs. Harm. The wedding was unbelievable. It seemed like everyone had a lovely time. And that is really all I wanted. It was just great. We had some minor mishaps like me losing my veil and the song I recorded for B won't play.

But a lovely start to our marriage. I hope it is like our wedding... full of laughs, little tears and much happiness. So far so good. Only 51 weeks and 69 years to go : D

Carnival did such a good job. I think it helped that they had so much experience. I really didn't have much to worry about. At some point I will get the pictures from the disposable cameras scanned in so you all can see.

Apparently we've started on the sickness and health part of the marriage. B has a bit of a cold. I got him like 20 cans of chicken noodle soup so he is all good. While getting the soup, I got approached in the parking lot by a woman. She wanted money. I don't normally do money. So I offered to get her something to eat. I never know exactly how to handle these situations. I want to help but it is so hard to know whether it is helping or not. I went and got her a sandwich, warm sides, fruit cup, chocolate bar and drink. I figure it would be a lot so maybe more than just a meal. I stopped at a store across the way and saw her walking across the lot. No bag. I wondered.

I always feel that my kind intentions are God working through me. Or maybe just God working on me. A masterpiece in the making. I mean the most beautiful statue starts off as a rough block of stone. I figure if I hadn't actually helped, maybe the purpose of it was to set an example for someone else to help.

Good day and be kind.

The Giant Chicken Heart that Ate Cleveland Wedding

The kitties are going to be in the autograph frame which will take the place of a guest book.

Things are almost ready. I started packing the things for the reception last night. At this point, I think that the marriage excites me more than the wedding. Although it is a close second. I have tried not to be too crazy. I have tried not to put too much on any one person. I want this wedding to be like us.... fun and thoughtful.
And I must admit having to save up all that time for my work leave has me very much wanting a break. I ended up taking half days with this horrible cold that seems to have gone on forever. I am ready for a vacation.
But all the trappings aside, I am ready to become a wife. B's wife in fact. I am so excited about this life that we are starting together. I have this incredible joy when being with him. And it is all I could have asked for.
I prayed so often for someone to love me as much as I loved him and for someone to understand me and my every so quirkiness and he does. I always thought God was saying no to my prayers. I should have listened harder. He was saying "Not yet." Amen.
Good night and congrats C. on your daughter, J. I hope your dad feels better soon, M and B, I'll keeping praying,... the things that have been put on hold for joy.

It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness

I know it isn't my norm of ten days later.

I am tapped. I feel like my head is full of sand. Tip me over and you could fill a sandbox.

Right now all I want is to just sing along. Which is funny that is what I did for part of the day. I drove to P.'s. And all I did on the drive was sing along.

I'm itching to travel some more. B and I will travel shortly. A short walk down the aisle and all the way to the Bahamas. : D Plans are coming together fairly nicely. There has been a few hiccups. I was telling a coworker the other day some of the things I have planned. She said that it sounded thoughtful and fun. Which I think describes it pretty well. Describes me pretty well too.

I would ask for many prayers for my friend, Janene. She has had some pretty bad news recently and I just wish her and her family peace and strength. All I can hope for is to trust that the pain will ease and to have faith that God's will be done even in times of sorrow and hurt. Sorry, cry break.... it is wretched being soft hearted sometimes.

Good night and light away!

I love Mark

Guess who was so great this weekend when I was down with this horrible cold?

B!

He has already started taking this "in sickness and health" thing seriously.

I love you, Mark!

(And in case you are confused, B stands for Beloved which stands for Mark. I explained it a long time ago when the whole initial thing got mondo confusing).

Good night and may we all find or have already found our own B.

Not even a half step

Well, we welcomed in 2008 by dog sitting J's dogs and staying overnight at her house. B. got to play his very first game of pool and we had a great time listening to her jukebox. Caesar was so glad to see someone though. He spent the first ten minutes of us being there just racing around the room and around us.

And we missed midnight by like two minutes. Apparently it takes more than two minutes to get champagne open and poured into glasses.

But as lovely as the night was, the bed was beyond horrible. It reminded me of the Princess and the Pea. We just couldn't seem to get comfortable. B. seemed to feel it most of all. It was a lovely comforter and pillows but there were like five billion pillows... okay so it was more like six. But half were beaded and fringed.

So here we are. One month and one day until the wedding. Everyone keeps asking if I am nervous. I wasn't until they started asking. But I think it is going to be a good wedding and an awesome marriage. The half step almost taken... the funny thing is now I am now getting the kids questions too.

Wait a second. I'm not even married yet. I keep telling everyone I want 3 years at least with it just being B and I. I want some time to get used to be married. I certainly didn't rush into the marriage. Why would I rush into kids? I know him as my boyfriend, my finacee. I want to get to know him as my husband before we add more to the mix. I'm still adjusting to have a joint checking account with him. I'm imagining that kids might be an even more interesting adjustment LOL.

Good day and three years, people!

Keep on Pimpin'

As you may know I work with kids. And this week it seems like it was a lot of work with kids. We've had a bunch that come for the afternoon movie and end up staying until we just about close.

Well, one of my co-workers told us yesterday that the kids had been making cards and asked her to hold their stuff while they went in the back with me for crafts.

She said yes and noticed in the midst of their things that they had made a card. It was filled with sweet child sentiments about how much they loved them and wished them happy holidays. She thought it might have been for their mom. It was the final line though that surprised her.

It read..."Happy Holidays and keep on pimpin!"

I about fell on the floor with laughter. That is what I love about working with kids. They are all full of surprises.

Good day and keep on pimpin'. LMAO

Christmas All December Long

I have been busy ordering presents online. So it seems like everyday I go home for lunch, there is a new present on my doorstop.

It doesn't matter if it is for me or not. It just feels like Christmas.

We finally got our house decorations up. Neither of us felt really into decorating the outside though. And B had a great idea. Since we really aren't having Christmas for anyone else, we put the tree in our bedroom.

Here it is with a kitty present already under it.

It's too bad we already have holiday cards....The tree has a mixture of old and new ornaments. It has a collection of ones that I got from my parents that were on my trees growing up. And it has ones that B and I have collected together. Everytime we go somewhere, we get an ornament from that place. I love having that tradition with him.
We also have the tradition now of hitting the dollar store and buying each other stocking gifts. It is so wonderful to have traditions of our own to share.
Good night and joyeux noel.

A New View

I am looking at things in a new way... literally. The monitor that was previously hooked up to this computer wasn't working properly. So after much research and two seperate trips to Wallyworld, B got a new monitor. A flat screen... I then realized we had been inadvertently influenced by D. I believe there was the suggestion of getting a big one for the living room to act as tv and computer. LOL

All in all, a good November. I have resisted Christmas too much. I changed the channel when a Christmas show or song came on. But I have been buying gifts. Online. It is as much fun for me since there are packages to open on my doorstep and I get to savor the idea of someone liking what I got them. The charity donation is still planned just on a smaller scale. It may have to be chickens instead of a cow.
I had planned to give a Cowart cow to my family this Christmas as a donation to Heifer International but I decided to balance both gifts and charity this year.
Oh I got flowers the other day... they really made my day.

They actually came on a day when I had forgotten I had asked for them and it was a really bad day. They made it so much better. And just in case you might have wondered what my cats look like in a bed of flowers... look below.

Good night and Happy December's Eve!

Evil Evil Stickers

So tonight was my night of invites. I typed up all the addresses for the wedding invitations. I wanted them to look nice so I spent at least an hour getting margins just right and font just right.

I get done printing the addresses and so I go to put them together. They are seal and send with a postcard response card. So I carefully put the address on and then I sticker them shut with an adorable cat sticker.

It was just as I finish with the last carefully placed cat sticker that I realize something.....

I had forgotten to put stamps on my response cards which were now sealed with a cute cat sticker. Evil, evil stickers. They were so cute that they made me forget.

So hence I spent the last thirty minutes carefully and sometimes not so carefully peeling back a cute cat sticker. Just so I could stick a $0.26 stamp on all of these response cards.

But that's okay LOL. I also bought way too many stamps. Careful plans for naught.

I am thankful that I can laugh at it and that I am marrying someone who will probably laugh at it too. I love him for that.

Good night and watch out for le chat evil stickers!

An Eden for Eves

So these are a couple of nuts.... LOL I mean they are holding a couple of nuts. Yes, this is Eden. Though better known as Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville, FL.

These were pics from T, P and I's visit to the gardens in Gainesville. It was a pretty perfect day. A good road trip, excellent lunch and lovely weather. Plus they have added a cat called Willow. As if it was not a perfect place already. It has now reached sublime.
This has been weird. The shift of a Tuesday that feels like a Monday was just beyond strange. So the volcanes last Friday went over big for the kids. We had a really great time making them erupt. I am so glad that I made the move but I still really miss my staff. I even dreamed about them.
Which is something I am doing more often recently. There was the dream about the kittens trying to get into my house, crawling under doorways and all. Then there was the snake that grew huge and we (D and I) had to get the kids out of this school. Yesterdays was that I went out to MAX and it was deserted. But there was a big red circle around 11/8 (the date) and I woke up trying to figure out what was so important about that date.
Major weirdness. Next week looks to be no different with working only 3 days. Oh but turkey and christmas list to forward to.
Good night and bonne nuit!

One more pic...

All Hallow's Eve

Avast me maties! It be Pirate Eve. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and this year I got a couple of snaps. The first is at my branch where I got to be a pirate wench for the day. Boy but that eyepatch really screws with your depth perspection. And not only did I get into it this year, but so did the kitties. These were earlier pics of them in costume. The first is Basil doing a lion impression.
Though to me, he looks a bit like he is being eaten by a lion....
And next is Hazel in her fanciest dresswear. Obviously she got into the spiked milk as her tie is just a bit off.

We had a really good time this year. There were a ton and a half of trick or treaters. But seeing as our porch and outside light were out, we didn't get too many coming to the door. So B and I went down to D and H's for some hanging out. It was a lot of fun. I also got to spend some time with Mom and Dad that night. They were out on the lawn handing out their traditional bag o' greaties. I got to show them my costume and then just sit and talk for a bit.
As if I need an excuse to dress up : P
Speaking of dress up, I did that a little last night for D and H's party. They had a one year anniversary and housewarming party. There are just some time when I feel like going all girly. So I wore the little black dress and HK glitter lip gloss (Hello Kitty for the uninformed). It was a great time had by all. And B got to give his presents. I let him pick them out for D and H. And for some odd reason, he feels my family deserves singing spinning animals. It must be the high class taste that we get from Dad coming out in all of us that he recognizes. Oh and in case you were wondering they got a ceramic moose head from the parentals. Just goes to prove my point. LOL
I think it is because his family doesn't really get the weird quirky gifts that he likes to give. So he gets to give them to my family who are weird and quirky... LOL
Today I am heading out to G'ville with T and P. We are going to drop off P and also go visit the Kanapha (sp?) Botancial Gardens. Road trip with cooly peoples are the best. Hence the reason for my early morning bloggeriny.... I was too excited to stay asleep.
Oh well good day and drive safely.

Taking Fifteen

Yes, I am still breathing... sorry it has been so long since my last post.

I love going home for lunch. There is something about that mental break in the middle of the day. I don't know if it is the leftovers or the kitties or just the drive away from the branch. It is just lovely.

I am so happy that I made the move back to childrens and teen. It was like putting a dress in the to-go donate pile and pulling it back out. Such a perfect fit.

I'm still settling into my new routine. But I did remember to keep out the candy bowl: D

And my cat theme for the wedding has been certified by the US Postal Office. I stopped by this morning to pick up postcard stamps and without even asking which kind I wanted, she gave me ones with big cats on them: ) Too funny.

Good night and Meow!

Who knew I had so much stuff...

I have been one busy chick.

This is my last week at the management level. As of next week it is back to children and teen librarian.

It has really been amazing. I've never received so many good things said about me. Everyone seems to want to tell me that they'll miss me and what a great job I did.

I did but I never knew that they noticed. I never noticed how much I put into this job.

Literally how much. I have packed 5 boxes and about 4 crates worth of stuff. I even have furniture to move. It's just a child's seat and a hat tree but it is furniture.

I can't wait to start at children's. The director told me yesterday that she understands that my heart is in children but that she wants me to take a position as children's senior. : )

Even she thinks I'm great...

I never saw it as great work. I just saw it as doing my job to the fullness of my ability. It just happens that I have a great deal of ability. Just not a lot of love for this position. I was afraid that I would stay in because I was good and eventually make myself miserable.

My goal for myself is to be happy. And slowly it comes to me. Just happy.

Oh and so far there is 6 pounds less of me. Go me!

Good day and be happy for you too.

Why do the wrong words seem so right?

I feel like I have been circling and circling just waiting for a place to land.

I just want things to be done. To start the new job, to be married, to be settled.

Instead I live in a holding pattern. A continuous waiting period. Some self inflicted some administration inflicted.

I want it to begin.

But in truth this is good time spent. It is time to say good bye. It is time to learn how much I want to be married to him. It is time to savor one place before moving onto another. It is time to the idea of our plans.

Good night and it is time : ) to publish.

A good day

My fortune says I should keep the ability to see the extraordinary in the ordinary,

Today (thus far) has been a good day. I took a half day for no other reason than I wanted to. The packages I thought were lost were in fact not. I had some good Chinese food for lunch. My house and yard have already been picked and mowed.

I've been trying something new. It's an online food diary called Fit Day. I almost didn't do it today. But I am glad I did. I've been trying to fill it in before eating. Mainly it gives me an idea of how much I eat. By doing it before, I think a little bit more about what I am putting into my body. It's so hard. Especially the nighttime.

But I am trying to be more aware of the urge to just snack. Most of the time, it is because it tastes good and definitely not because I am hungry.

Good day and garbage in garbage out.....

We regret to inform you...

I am having a unique experience. I am transfering from management to childrens and from M've to W'ok. Both places want me.

It is an odd tug of war to be in. I am sad to be leaving and very happy to be coming. I've been trying to find ways to let the patrons here know. I don't want them to just come in and boom! She's gone.

B and I had a late night visitor last night. There is another black kitty hanging around the house. He looks just a bit odd. His head is much bigger than his body. But I think that is because he is so skinny. I am not sure what exactly to do with him. I did feed him and tried to get him in the house. But he squirmed too much and I had to put him back down. He is so sweet and loving. He does happy feet when he eats and when he is being pet. I think with a little socialization he could be a great pet. Any takers?

Good day and pray for T.

Give you one more minute of my time in this mess you left behind

Well, it's offical. I signed the memo today offically asking for a voluntary demotion to librarian.

I am just a muddle of emotions. But I have to do what will make me happy. Life is too short to be unhappy.

I've decided to stop focusing so much on my outward life. There has just been so much going on with P and job stuff. Which has mostly been resolved... she is moving out of here and I am starting my new one on the 15th.

Things have happened that caused me to reevaluate myself. I've decided that stress makes me cry. I cry at the drop of a hat. But it isn't always the right thing for me. It isn't that I am always sad. It is that I don't communicate what I am feeling and attempt to hold it in until I cry. It is an emotional release. But it doesn't truly communicate always how I feel. So I am trying to take a breath when I feel the need to cry and communicate what I am feeling.

The other thing I am working on is my weight and eating right. I tend to eat even when I am not hungry. I am trying to learn what just enough is. I am surprised at how difficult it is. I am also trying to stop and figure what is the reason I am eating if it is not hunger. Plus I am working on adding more exercise into my life. I went walking with H. Sunday night and I'd like to go two more times this week.

Right now I am still considering therapy. I had thought about it before when the first distressing things came out about P. But I am going to try it my way first.

Good day and start here. Go anywhere.

Two Poems

Once upon a time and time again,
Two sisters died a little each day
Name Now.
Upon cursed lips, all evil crossed
Not one’s lips.
She had sewn her rosy buds shut
With a corpse’s thread.
All evil flowed but not out.
It was swallowed within.
With the last snitch of one’s needle,
Her sister’s curse was born.
Sorrow begun to flow
As if some great well spring had been
Hewn in twain.
It shimmered, cascading in pool-like eyes.
Unhappily ever after.

Like a new mortality play sits she.
Willingly strapped into this new old ride.
IT hands her the blade so sharp.
I too am tied with unseen unable to rip my gaze away.
“Hack away.”
Whispers slithers out of grey lips.
“No pain, no pain.”
Hissing promises fill its deadening mouth.
And so stand I on the other side of the glass,
Heart breaking sobs torn for my chest.
Begging for an end, Pleading for her
To shut her ears.
As pieces of you fall to the floor.
Changling girl,
Why listen to pleading when
Whispers seduce?

Weddingland

That is where I have been spending so much of my time recently. I have ordered flowers, an autograph picture frame, bought him a tie, and set up a bridal breakfast with my bridal peoples.

But I only have done all this for two reasons:

1. It has been fun doing all this planning.
2. It gets me that much closer to marrying B.

I just can't wait and yet it seems I still have a million things to do. Invitations are my next big thing. H. has been such a blessing in helping me with these. She has done the custom art and it looks beyond great.

Good day and here comes the bride.

A question of faith

My faith is a quiet one. I would rather my actions speak of my beliefs than my mouth. I remember thinking of many things along these lines on this mornings drive.

I thought about the Iraselites particularly during the time of Moses. How they had this incredible faith that God would deliver them and he did. I also thought about Moses' mom. We speak often of letting go and letting god but she actually did that in a big way.

Ordinary miracles was something else I pondered. It seems like an oxymoron but it isn't. It is the miracles every day that we miss. They are the ones I think of when I hear about someone thinking about miracles during biblical times. Bringing someone back to life, healing the sick, etc.... it happens everyday. One might blame the technology or the skill of doctors but who gave the skill to the doctor or the idea for that technology.

I remember once several years ago, I didn't believe in God. I couldn't figure out why a lifetime of believing had become disbelief. I prayed that I would believe again, to let me have a mustard seed of faith. That's all I did. My prayer was answered. I still to this day have no idea what took my faith away or what brought it back. To me that was a miracle. An ordinary miracle. The funny thing is that even at a time when I didn't belive I still prayed.

Good day and have faith.

God is Laughing

I once heard that if you want to make God laugh, make plans.

He must be rolling down the aisles by now.

Friday I get an voicemail from my supervisor. She needs to talk to me. I email her back that I will be out (B is having mouth surgery on Monday) and can she talk to me via email. She emails me to find out if I want the position that I wanted months ago LOL.

Um okay. Then the schools call me. Apparently as of Friday there is a job freeze. They think they can still hire me but are not definitely sure.

Then my supervisor calls me again today. She has another children's position to offer me. So I go from one job offer to three in the space of a weekend.

God's sides must just be aching by this point.

I'll let you know what other twists this story takes.

Good day and why did the dinosaur cross the road?
Because chickens hadn't been created yet.

And around again

Okay so today I get a call from the person I was supposed to interview with on Tuesday. She was there at the school waiting for me. But someone got their wires crossed and didn't send me back.

Oops!

So I have an interview tomorrow. And it is for a school 15 minutes away from my home. I don't want to get excited but I am. Back to working with kids is so where I wanted to be 5 months ago when I asked for a transfer. And I want it even more now. But I am trying to keep it in check. Just in case...

Yay! Tonight is pizza night with T. I so look forward to those all week. And tomorrow is day off and interview. My cup spills over. Oh speaking of spilling cups...

Last night was Henri's night. My kitten loves water. He always runs into the bathroom when I go in there on the off chance that I might leave the water running for him. So we got him a kitty water fountain last night. At first he didn't know what to think of it. He crept up slowly to it. I guess he thought we might turn it off before he got there. And then he didn't leave the room for like two hours after we turned it on. He was in kitty heaven.

I got up this morning and he had drank so much water that I had to refilled the bowl.

Good day and drink 8 cups of water a day before Henri drinks it all for you.

The Newest Loop

So I wanted to tell all about how my interview went but it didn't.

I got up this morning, got all ready for my interview and went to the school. But the principal didn't have me down as coming in. Heck, she didn't even have a school media specialist position available. I called the HR for the school system and there aren't any SMS positions available anywhere.

My best guess is that she may have called me for the Reading teacher position. I wouldn't have taken though.

It was just so surreal. I even double checked my phone to make sure someone indeed had called from the schools. The suckiest part was I was looking forward to it. It has been five months since my request at work and nada! I miss working with kids. I didn't know how much until the chance came to work with them again. I just feel so stuck here and it is like I am being punished for being good at something.

Good day and it sucks.

Parents

Parental units. I have two very good ones. I was wondering about being one yesterday. It appeared as if that was all I could see yesterday. I heard stories about their children from my staff, my sibling deleted parts about parenting from his blog and his wife mused on the joys and sorrows of parenting.

I have already discussed this with B and we would both like to get used to the roles of husband wife first. T wants to be an aunt but she is going to have to wait a couple of years. Or so...

I wobble on the idea of children. Somedays yes. Somedays no. But I want it to be a time when I am a definite yes. I have been told by a number of people about what a good mom I would make. I think I will but only because I have such great role models to look up to in that department. I have a great mom. She is so incredibly capable and smart and has such a wonderful wonderful sense of humor. She has such strength and grace. And it is the kind of strength that you don't see coming. I think she could have been a great queen. LOL And she is... just of a small country and population of 6.

I also see a great example in my sister-in-law. She and her daughter has such an amazing bond. She has a lot of the same qualities as my mom. She has a deeply caring heart and I love her desire to help others. She's a fantastic role model for her daughter. And yea, God, she is quirky but it is in such a way that it shows a joy of living. But she is not afraid of showing her folliables. And that takes such strength to show a weakness. She is crazy about M. and it shows.

Maybe that is what it takes... a little craziness : P or sometimes a lot : D

Good day and hug a mom today.

A Meriade of Choices

Blue or green? Small or big? New job or not?

This has been the theme of my week. It started on Sunday. The day B and I got a new car.

I'd been planning on turning in my bug and getting something new. Something bigger and more reliable and as good on gas mileage. I did my research. We ended up with a 2008 Toyota Corolla. It was ranked very higher both with NADA and Consumer Reports. Overall the car buying experience was better this time too. I went with Ernie Palmer Toyota and I didn't feel strongarmed nor did I feel like I needed to bring someone along to argue for me. Though B did come along for moral support.

So new car.... my other choice came today. I have an interview with a local school system. It knocked me a bit of a loop. I still don't know what I want to do. I am going to the interview and will have to decide once I have more information.

So much is changing. I am glad to have B to hold onto. As long as that never changes, I should be good. Good day and a change will do you good.

Keeping up with Pop Culture

There are few things I enjoy more than taking classes unless it is taking a good class.

Not the snooze filled, sit and listen while I talk and my syllabus looks like a doodle bug explored on it class.

Such was the case on Friday where I got up and went to my Keeping up with Pop Culture class. It was offered by Neflin. It was interesting and fun. But it also made sense with my job. I think I will stop telling people I am a librarian and start telling them I deal in information. And then tell them I have told them too much and ask whom to send the body to... :D But it is true. I deal in information and it is mondo important to know how people get information. Pop culture is a major deal in that it deals with readily available and mass distribution information.

I never imagined how fluid information has become and the ways of obtaining are growing exponentially. I think I came out of it better knowing where people go.

In the back of my brain, I do wish I could be more of a student. I love learning and figuring stuff out. LOL which got me into trouble on Friday night.

I've never been one to play games all day on the computer. But I have also never played a computer game based on Nancy Drew. Oh my goodness. I played for an hour on Friday before B got home. And then got back on about 12 midnight thinking I'll just play for a bit. He went to bed and I was still playing. A little while later, I noticed it getting light outside. When I got out of the game, I realized it was almost 7 o'clock in the morning. I couldn't believe it. It had felt like barely any time passing. And it was until I laid down that I realized how tired I was. Hence you might say I like the game. Just slightly. But I am going to have to limit my playing.

Last night I played until 3 am. Ugh! Hello, world. My name is Eve and I am a gamer.... : P It'd be tough but I will resist.

Good day and watch out for Nancy...she's evil :D

Finding slugs

Growing up I used to read Nancy Drew. She embodied my desire to solve mysteries. Even now I love mystery shows and mystery games. I love the idea of figuring things out. There is so much of life that I just can't figure out.

Like hate. I could never figure it out. Why would you lump everyone together into a group and pick something that they couldn't change to not like?

Or not try something and just assume you hate it. You never know what you might like if you tried it.

I try to keep an open head and heart. This year's theme for the teen reading program was You Never Know. And you don't. Think of how many things you might have missed if you had hated today and just stayed in bed.

I would have missed this blog. I would have missed my chocolate covered nutter butters. I would have missed hunting and finding books... ah the mystery of where someone put that book.

I so do love it.

Good day and never stop trying something new.

February 9, 2008

That is our date. It is set. Cruise tickets purchase, packaged purchased. And I think I have enough left over to buy some Toxic Hell. Though I can't imagine having a better groom. He has gotten the full blast of what it means to be a Cowart. But he just stands there ready with support, kitties and hugs... which means he is utterly the most perfect person for me. He is wonderful and I am so lucky. I'm glad that it is six months away though. Plenty of time left for my favorite things... planning : ) and him :D

As far as life as a Cowart, it has been interesting. P got into some major trouble.
I won't bore ( okay so not a bit of it actually is boring) you with details. If you check out Dad's blog, you will get the juicy details. Dad wondered if it had anything to do with the aerosol things that H and I found when cleaning up her place. I will say that I spoke with P and she did say that she was using recreationally the aerosol and MJ. J is supposed to go with her to some NA meetings and she mentioned wanting to receive further counseling. I think right now I am done mostly with getting upset over it. I think I don't feel that it is as much of a shock right now.

So I am focusing on the wedding. The Carnival people are supposed to be sending me a package of details to go through and over with B. And I think February was the perfect pick for us since amethyst is the birthday stone ( I so did not know that before) and violet is the flower. We're going with a black and white color scheme with purple as the accent color. But all that aside, I've marrying the best man in the whole world for me. Okay, someone stop me before I go off ona B rant : P

Good day and Woot!

Why is it...?

When I have bedtime stories, I end up wanting to just go home and go to bed?

that I got done with HP 6 today with just enough time to get dressed and come to work?

I feel torn in two directions with a question asked of me about a loan of money?

with each kids' program I get to do, I feel more and more like less and less of being a manager?

I feel like I am so busy that I have to pencil people in?

Good night and ?

HP 7

Okay, I can deal with most temptation. Chocolate, sex, food, etc. But what is proving way mondo tempting right now is a book.

But not just any book.

A book I have been anxiously waiting for and counting down the days to the day it is released. Which will be tomorrow. Have you guessed it yet?

I have it in my posession right now. It is in a box in my office. But due to some major jinxes and mondo huge hexes, there it will have to sit until tomorrow. Until now, I never wished to be an open 24 hours type of library...

I've been re-reading one through six these last couple of weeks. And yes, I did see the newest movie just days ago. But none of this enters into my head which can feel that box just sitting there.

But tomorrow will be here soon enough. And I will have a book to read. Sometimes the ancipation can be the greater joy: )

Good day and draco dormiens nunquam titillandus!

Head Up

Who knew such wisdom could come from a cash register?

Head Up is an error message that happens when you don't close the printer slot properly. Someone changed the roll that was empty but forgot to close the printer slot.

For me, this was a message. All I wanted to do this morning was keep my head down and go about my normal day. But nothing about my days is ever normal. Case in point, Saturday. Even with the massive down pour of rain that started just before 1 pm, we still had 603 people in our gate count for our branch b-day party. We had it all though.... clowns

the medical examiner,

Polynesian dancers,

and so much more. It was just wonderful... even with the torrential rains that opened up almost directly at 1pm : P We had kids crafts, face painting, balloon animals, and one minute mysteries. I am so pleased with my staff and all the presenters on how well it turned out. I was all bubbles and enthusiasm until about 4:00. That was when I finally sat down and really exactly how wiped I was. But it was a good tired. It was a great day. But I am quite glad that a birthday only comes once a year : )
Good day and happy birthday to you!

Naive Eve

I had a friend in college when I have just a bajillion nicknames who called me Nevie. She said it should for Naive Eve. Even with all my smarts and wisdom, I still feel that way. Particularly now. Someone that I believed in has been shattered. Into a million billion little pieces. Each of those pieces is like a dagger to my heart.

This doesn't make me love her any less. Nothing would cause that.

But I am so heartbroken over this turn of events. I felt yesterday as if I finally understood why ancient Jews tore their clothes and poured ashes on their heads. I wanted to. I told B that I felt as if I were in mourning. Mourning for the potential and greatness that I saw in flickers around her.

I am better today. It still hurts and I'm really not sure when we will sit down with her. B had a job interview in town today. He seems to think that it went really well. He (as always) has been really great and given me several extras hugs. We're hiding away for the fourth though. No phones, lock the doors and pull down the shades kind of hiding. Very good balm for the souls of both of us.

Good day and I'll be back Thursday.

It's all in the planning

They say life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans. Well, my whole existence right now is planning. When I'm at work, I plan. When I'm living outside of work, I plan.

So for what you may ask? Well, at work, I am planning for July's desk schedule and a branch birthday party. It should be good when it happens. There will be activities and clowns, face painting, a fire truck and murder mystery. There will also be polynesian dancing. Totally fun but not right now in the midst of planning for a big event for which I have no idea of how many will be there.

I also don't know how many will be there for the big day for me for which I am planning. I can't even tell anyone when. Money is now saved but we ran into the issue of passport. I have one. B doesn't and it would be a major major horrible downer if I had to go on my honeymoon alone.

B's mom was here last weekend. It was the first chance I've gotten to meet anyone from his family. I was very nervous before she came. I liked her. She is very sweetie and can talk about everything under the sun. She did a lot of laughing with my family too. It felt a bit like a job interview. She wanted to know how I knew B was the one for me and she asked him a similiar question. I forgot to tell her about how he is only one I have talked how we will be when we're 90 or how I can see it in my head. I did spend more time in my bedroom some nights with the door closed but I wanted to make sure that B and mom had enough time together. He hasn't seen her since last year. We did all sorts of things like headed down to Orlando to see the Arabian Nights dinner theatre and out to St. Augustine to visit Ripley's.

But as lovely as it was for her to come, it was just as lovely when she left. I love having B to myself. It is almost as nice as having me to myself : P

I still have not heard anything about the position closer to home. Right now I spend at least one hour or so in the car just traveling to and from work. By the end of the week I have spent more than half a work day in the car.

Good night and drive safe : P

Once again...

Every day I try to be better. I felt like here was just showing one side of me somewhat. I very rarely wrote the completely honest stuff here. So there is another me blog out there in cyberspace. But where as this got the weird quirky cute stuff I thought, the other got the angry crazy weird stuff I thought. Now I have what feels like very little time for one blog much less two so I decided why two... why not just one.

Every now and again I want to have a pity party for one. Just a release of everything I feel bad about. It is not the kind of thing I want a shoulder to cry on. It's more of a lean on myself moment. I had one last night. We were in Target looking for cards just before this. And it hit me that this would be the first time I wouldn't be trying to find a funny card or ecard to send to my grandfather. It was a stray throught that just hit me.

And then it got me thinking about my own dad. He has prostrate cancer. He is taking the wait and see attitude. I think he is mainly concerned about how it will affect his relationship with my mom. Next to Christ, she is the main focus of his world. P. says she respect his decision about treatment. I wobble on the idea of respecting and worrying. I love my father and I want him around for as long as possible. I love his sense of humor and his deeply set beliefs. I love his quirkiness and his love for my mom. I love his questing and curiousity. I love his commitment to learning and his caring for people. I love how he made childhood fun and the way he made me so very special. And even though he speaks of how dirt poor we were, I didn't feel it. I know he and Mom worked really hard to provide for us.

In the midst of all this thinking and hunting of cards, I also picked up one for my brother. This is his first father's day. He is the proud father of a teenager. And since his wife and daughter still speak to him, he must be doing a good job. All that I have seen in the times when I have hung out with them speak to that fact.

And yes, all of this went through my head either while looking for cards or on the way out the door to hunt pipecleaners. Which apparently should be added to the endangered list.

So I sat in my car for a second just pondering these facts and crying last night. But laughing too. I am nothing if not a contradiction. It didn't help that I was having a very exhausting week and a very badly bruise and hurting at that time foot. Which is a whole other story.

But not a long one though. It is all J's fault. If she hadn't brought me that dining room table, I won't have been cleaning off the old one and putting pictures up above my kitchen cabinets. I won't have then been standing on the old chair which won't have broken. And I wouldn't have landed squarely on my big left toe. It's not broken but I have had to stay off of it (mostly ; ) I kind of overdid it last night and hence the hurting at this time comment.

Thus here I am. One bruised foot but feeling better for the emotional release. Go with peace to love and serve the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Good night and peace be with you....

Kitty Incognito

I want a quiet day. And an early night.

We went away to Wild Adventures for Memorial Day. I did my first big interstate driving. I avoid it normally. But I don't want to not be able to do. I can be so hard on myself. I am my worst critic.

I am still waiting to hear about the children's position. It is weird in that I never thought about it before and now it is agony waiting to hear. But B is being lovely. I feel like I have been so snappish recently.

Hazel (my cat) needs a new name. I have decided to reclaim it for use later. So any ideas on kitty names, guys?

Good day and shhhhh....

It looks like my posts are now showing up at http://eveyq.blogspot.com

Was there a Batboy before Batman?

I miss reading all night. One of my staff is graduating today. It made me think of the things that I used to do as a kid/teenager. I used to try and read all my library books all in one night. Now it is more like I keep a couple around and pick at them when I get the time.

But things may change. I may be getting more time. Or at least less time going towards something else. There's nothing definite yet. But I may be going back to working with children. I am a great manager but children's work makes me happier. It was so hard coming to that decision. But I think it is the right one for me.

Good night and here's to kids : D

Saving

That is the step I am on in wedding planning. I have made and looked up and researched many things.

But here I sit on saving. B and I are doing all the wedding expenses ourselves. That is our choice. So far I have about half of what I would like to have saved by August. But one expense is out of the way.

I bought a dress. Yes, it was online but it was the one I kept coming back to. I would post the pic but they took the pic off the site.

Everytime I think of our marriage, I want to sing and laugh and cry all at the same time. I am so lucky.

Good night and live your own adventure story.

Five Minutes Until New Day

Talk about sitting on the verge of possibility. Who knows what the day may bring?

This is my favorite photo of B and me. It was taken at our engagement party. I was and am so happy to be marrying him. And I love the look he is giving me... all sorts of either "what a wonderful person I will be marrying" or "who is this crazy person I am sitting next to?

I've never been married before. For a time I thought maybe God had it planned to just leave me single. Or at least single with lots of cats. I can only pray to be a good wife. LOL I am sure the first couple of times someone calls for Mrs. Harm, I will look around for Nancy, Mark's mom : ) The two hardest things for me are communication and trust. I have a bad habit of understanding what I am saying and assuming so does the other person. Just one working on in the masterpiece of me.

The trust is an old issue. As happy as I am with him, in some ways, I would rather be on my own. Even though he has done not one thing to make me not trust him, it is hard to put my trust in someone else. I keep wondering when is the day that he will leave me alone and hurt. I just have to have faith in him and me. It is easier to hide away but not nearly as joyful. My B. brings joy to my life and a completeness that I don't think I have ever had.

Good night and have a little faith in me...

Lip Synching

I am listening to music at work on my lunch hour. My normal routine is to sing along but since it is work.....

Thus I am reduced to just lip synching. Acting like I am doing something when I am not.

Hmmm.... could be the definition for my day. I have been acting like I am happily working but I am more just working. Today I want to be going on a long drive to somewhere cool I have never been, listening to the stereo blasting and enjoying the feel of the warm air breezes rustling my hair.

Good day and look forward to a day off....

Stuck in my head

This marvel wonder of a brain, the likes of which could create mind boggling ideas and memories is stuck....

It is stuck on the song " You don't own me". In between chorus of this song, I wonder why and how a song gets stuck. It happens all the time and we all have various remedies for getting it unstuck.

But how does it become stuck in the first place?

Curious....

Good day and Frere Jacques, frere jacques, dormez-vous?

In a Dry and Thirsty Land Where no water is...

Why is it the mere knowing that I can't have water makes me thirsty?

The water at work came on and went off today at odd intervals. It would come on after I had sent the emails to my supervisor alerting her of it being off : )

Good night and all praise for Zephyrhills!

An Easter Well Spent

This weekend was Easter. God may have been raised from the dead but B and I didn't barely raise ourselves from the bed this Sunday.

Now before you start contemplating ways in which I am a heathen, consider this. Never a day passes without a prayer in some way, shape or form. I had written this whole section on faith and God. And I keep deleting it. To me, my belief in Christ is just that. I don't want to use it as a battering ram or a judgement stick. I would rather my acts speak for themselves.

And in that Easter spirit, I have a joke. Of course, God laughs. You can not make a joyful noise without joy.

There were three men standing at the gates of heaven. St. Peter comes out and tells them that they have to answer one question before they can enter. So he asked the first man, "What happened on Easter?". The first man thinks and says, "That's when we all dress up and get candy, right?". St. Peter shakes his head and asks the second man the same question. The second man thinks and says, " That's when Jesus was born and we get loot, right?". St. Peter again shakes his head. He asked the last man, " What happened on Easter?". The third man answers, " That's when Jesus comes out of his tomb...". St. Peter begins to smile but it quickly turns to a frown as the last man continues"... and if he sees his shadow, we get six more weeks of winter, right?"

Good day and welcome happy morning age to age shall sing!

Woots!

My life has been filled with many little woots in the last week.

Take for example, yesterday. It was my day off and in the middle of the day, the electrican showed up and was able to fix the circuit breaker which now allows me to wash and dry laundry at the same time. Woot! A small thing being able to do laundry, you might think. But having to drag it elsewhere and sit and wait for it to be done only to throw in the next load is a soulsucker.
Even if you bring along something to do, you can still feel that sutble pull on your soul.

I also got to open the windows for the cats. They love it. It is Kittyvision. I remember growing up that sometimes windows and fans were our type of central air. Maybe that is why every chance I get I love opening the windows. Woot!

The other two things I did yesterday were putting up laundry with B and going to FIHS to see my niece in a band/colorguard presentation. It felt like my first auntie outing. I was so proud of how well she did and how beautiful she looked doing it. It made me miss twirling flags. But regardless she did just great. Woot! And the putting up laundry with B was one of those moments where we were just talking and laughing and doing something together. Woot!

Good day and this is the day that the Lord hath made.... Woot, Woot!

Ma familia

Did you ever see Moonstruck?

It has the quintessential lesson of no matter what your family does , they are your family...(in the movie, Cher got engaged to one brother and ended up being engaged to the other brother that she was supposed to convince to go to her wedding)

I am still learning this lesson. There have been times when I wanted to disown them. But in truth they are what makes life life. I do want to throttle them at times.

I don't mind being the quiet one though. There is one day though that I want to be the one in the center of it all. It will be the most important day thus far. I really want it to be just a day of family and some friends. This may mean being really strick on the guest list... which is weird for me. Normally I have such a hard time and so dislike excluding anyone. But with the cruise, it is supposed to be 20 for the package and it is a set price for any extras.

But in truth, there only needs to be me and him and it becomes the perfect wedding.

How do I tell someone I only wanted to invite them and not the person that they just turned to and invited? It isn't because of the person but I feel like somehow it will turn the day into all about them and not about B and I. And writing "No, they can't come" is a lot easier than saying it. But I will if need be. I never want to be a demanding person. But it is a fine line between standing up for your self and being demanding. Ugh!

Good night and be strong, E.

Feels Like Home

Somethin' in your eyes, makes me wanna lose myself
Makes me wanna lose myself, in your arms
There's somethin' in your voice, makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts, the rest of my life

If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I've been so alone
And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you've done

It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

A window breaks, down a long, dark street
And a siren wails in the night
But I'm alright, 'cause I have you here with me
And I can almost see, through the dark there is light

Well, if you knew how much this moment means to me
And how long I've waited for your touch
And if you knew how happy you are making me
I never thought that I'd love anyone so much

It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way the back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

~Chantal Kreviazuk

I told B. that this songs reminds me of him. It describes how I feel when he hugs me.

I know, I know... you'll all being going into sugar comas now : P

Good day and where do you find a one handed monster?

Beginnings and Endings Part Two

It was meant to be a full post but I think Grandmother's dialup must have eaten it. I'll try and get you the jist of what was said.

So for the start, let's cover beginnings. If you haven't read Dad's blog, then you may not have seen the post about my big annoucement. I'm engaged to B! I have been sitting on that news for three or so weeks. I wanted to wait to post it until I had gotten all my family together to tell them face to face. He is beyond wonderful and I am so happy. Right now we are looking at next February (don't worry... it won't be valentine's day...) So in a year I will be Mrs. Eve Harm. LOL It is just so weird to see it in print : D

And the ending? My grandfather, Jack Worthington, passed away last week. We went up to Maryland for the memorial service. I will miss him so much. I had just began to plan to bug him to start practicing his waltz so he could dance with me at the wedding. I was going to call him and Grandmother on Monday but he passed away Sunday. He was a one of a kind. I will most remember his big booming laugh, all those funny t-shirts and the way my grandmother would ruffle his hair. They were married almost 65 years. I am glad we were able to be there for my grandmother.

Good day and grow old along with me, the best is yet to be...

I shall have to...

I cried in a museum last week. I was having a wonderful time. I really was. I was in San Jose California for a library conference. After my workshop, I headed over to the San Jose Museum of Art where they had an Escher exhibit. It was beyond words. But that didn't make me cry.

It was upstairs. They had an exhibit, a "symphony" of words which were pulled from online. Words that were said on a daily basis all over the place online and repeated online. They then put them on LCD displays and put them to music. It was there that I cried. Not for happiness or sadness. It was there that I felt like I wished my family was there to see this very awesome display and how B would have not liked the display which made me miss him. In that single moment, I felt every millimeter of the distance between us.

And so I cried. Rather like I always have. Quiet and without anyone noticing. I used to sing like that as well. It was only a couple of seconds really.

For me it brought into focus my plans of leaving at some future point. It makes me step back and want to weigh with B this heaviness and bulk of this idea. This people, the people I just happen to know because I was born into them, are wonderful. But I also ponder that idea that the world is getting smaller by the minute. How I could keep in contact via all sorts of ways and how I did when overseas. A balancing act of old and new.

That appears to be my life in a nutshell.

(I am going to try to post bunches upon bunches of pictures next time and share more of my CA adventures.... at least that is the plan)

Good day and life is what happens to while busy making other plans.... Gung Hay Fat Chow!
